About
The BMW M3 E30 is a difficult car to translate into LEGO, because a big part of its charm comes from its simple, boxy, and very recognizable proportions. It is not a supercar full of curves, and it is not a racing prototype with extreme shapes. It is a classic with clean lines, a sporty stance, and a very strong identity.
When this set was first revealed in images, I have to admit I was not fully convinced. The E30 has such a specific silhouette, and from the official photos, some of the proportions did not seem completely right to me. But after seeing it in person, my opinion changed completely.
In real life, the set works much better. The presence is stronger, the lines make more sense, and the whole model feels much more balanced than it did in pictures. This is one of those Speed Champions sets that really benefits from being seen in hand, because you can better understand the volume, the angles, and the way all the small details come together.
Visually, I think the set captures the general idea of the E30 quite well. The boxy front, compact body, rear spoiler, and low proportions help sell the shape of the car. It is one of those Speed Champions models that works best when you look at the full package, especially from the front and three-quarter angles, where the silhouette feels stronger.
The BMW M colors also help a lot. On this kind of car, the graphic details make a big difference and give the model much more impact. The white base combined with the BMW stripes immediately connects the car to the M universe, even at this small scale.
As a build, it feels like a fairly direct but enjoyable Speed Champions model, especially for anyone who likes classic cars. It does not have the same aggressive impact as a Hoonicorn or a modern endurance car, but it has a different kind of charm. It is cleaner, more nostalgic, and more connected to classic car culture.
Of course, as often happens with this line, proportions are always a challenge. The E30 has a very specific shape, and at Speed Champions scale it is difficult to get everything perfect. Some areas may feel a little simplified or less refined, but overall, the model communicates what it needs to communicate: a LEGO version of the BMW M3 E30.
For me, the biggest value of this set is the car choice itself. I really like when LEGO brings models to Speed Champions that are not just modern supercars or current race cars. Having a classic like the M3 E30 adds more variety to the collection and shows that the line can also celebrate automotive history, not just speed and competition.

Minifigure review
The included minifigure comes with a BMW outfit, a hairpiece, and a wrench, allowing you to place it behind the wheel or display it next to the car. It is a simple figure, but it does its job well and reinforces the connection to the BMW brand.
As with most Speed Champions sets, the minifigure is not the main highlight, but it helps complete the package. I like when these figures have at least an outfit connected to the brand, because it makes the whole set feel more coherent and less generic.
In this case, the figure works more as a representative of the BMW world than as a specific character. It is not a minifigure that will steal attention from the car, and it does not need to. The real star here is clearly the M3 E30.
The wrench is also a simple but welcome accessory. It allows you to create a small garage, preparation, or maintenance scene, which fits really well with a classic car and the automotive culture around the E30.

So…

BMW M3 (E30) was a real surprise for me. When I first saw it in images, I was not very impressed, but after seeing it in person, I can honestly say it completely changed my opinion. It is much better in real life. It may not be the most aggressive or flashy Speed Champions set, but it has its own nostalgia, elegance, and charm. The biggest strength is definitely the car choice. The BMW M3 E30 has a huge legacy and a very recognizable silhouette, and seeing it finally represented in Speed Champions form feels special for fans of classic cars. It may not be perfect in every proportion, because this type of car is difficult to represent at this scale, but the final result has much more presence, personality, and identity than I expected. For BMW fans, M3 E30 fans, or collectors who enjoy more classic Speed Champions cars, this is one of those sets that is really worth seeing in person before making a decision.
