LEGO 72046 Game Boy arrives in 2025 for adults 18+, with 421 pieces and a launch price of €59.99. It is a near 1:1 replica of Nintendo’s original Game Boy, featuring tactile buttons, volume and contrast dials, a cartridge slot, and lenticular screens that simulate motion. It is not playable, it is a display model that leans on nostalgia and the building experience.

About
Scale and proportions are the big win, with high fidelity and a surprisingly tactile feel when pressing the D-pad, A and B buttons, and the power switch. The “cartridge” clicks into place convincingly, and the lenticular screens for Super Mario Land and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening add movement to the display. There is no sound or light by design, which some will see as a missed opportunity, and the screen window can scratch if handled carelessly. Overall, it showcases neat techniques in a quick build, perfect beside real hardware or other Nintendo sets.
Box design
Compact box, 35,1 × 18,8 × 6,9 cm, with an adult product look and clean photography of the model on its stand. The back highlights the tactile functions and the two themed cartridges.
Instruction manual
The instructions are clear and well sequenced, suitable for regular fans and for anyone returning to LEGO for the Nintendo tie-in. The physical manual guides you through short modules, and the digital version in LEGO Builder makes zooming and rotating easier when you close up the body shell.
So…

If you are after well executed nostalgia, LEGO 72046 Game Boy delivers, convincing scale, buttons that beg to be pressed, swappable cartridges, strong shelf presence. The lack of lights and sound is the main limitation, and you should take care with the screen window, but for the price and overall quality it is one of LEGO’s most rounded retro tributes of 2025 and for me the best set from 2025.
