These sets are very simple, but they work well for what they promise. The build is basically just a support for the main function: placing the minifigure inside the capsule, preparing the mechanism, and launching the ninja with that energy effect around them.
The Spinjitzu Burst system is clearly the main focus. It is not a technical build, and it is not an elaborate display model. It is a physical play feature, the kind LEGO NINJAGO has always enjoyed experimenting with. And that is part of the fun, because every Spinjitzu subline tries to do something slightly different, spinner, slam, tornado, burst, and here we get this idea of launching the ninja upward with a more explosive visual effect. Visually, the best part of these sets is definitely the elemental energy. Cole has that black/orange effect that fits earth and lava really well, Kai uses red and gold with a stronger and more aggressive presence, and Lloyd looks great in green and grey, probably the cleanest-looking one of the three.
As individual sets, they are very small and limited. But as a trio, they work much better. Placing the three side by side gives them more impact, especially because the ninja colors create a really nice composition. These are not sets you buy for the build itself, they are sets you buy for the function, the special parts, and the minifigures.
Minifigure review
The minifigures are, for me, the most interesting part of these sets. Each box includes only one figure, but the Spinjitzu Burst versions have a very specific identity within the collection. You get Cole - Spinjitzu Burst, Kai - Spinjitzu Burst, and Lloyd - Spinjitzu Burst, each with their own elemental look and pieces connected to the function.
The biggest highlight is definitely the design of the heads and energy elements. These are more “powered-up” versions of the ninja, with that look of releasing elemental power. For anyone collecting NINJAGO variants, this type of minifigure is always interesting, because it does not feel like just another regular version of the season outfit.
Cole works really well because of the darker colors and the contrast with orange. Kai is probably the most eye-catching, because the red and gold give him a lot of visual strength. Lloyd may be the most elegant of the three, with the green and grey fitting the Spinjitzu effect really nicely. On their own, these figures already have value for collectors. Together, they look even better, because they form a small sub-collection within the Master of the Mountain era.

The Spinjitzu Burst Cole, Kai, and Lloyd sets are not made for anyone looking for a big or complex build. They are small, simple, and almost entirely focused on the play feature. But as a trio, they are much more fun. The colors work well together, the function is enjoyable, and the minifigures have that elemental look that makes them quite appealing for NINJAGO collectors. The value is mostly in the figures and the play experience. They are not essential for everyone, but for anyone who enjoys ninja variants, Spinjitzu gimmicks, or the Master of the Mountain wave, these three make a lot of sense together in the collection.
