About
This set keeps things focused, and that’s exactly why it works. You get two quick builds that still pack in details and sensible play features. Zane’s bike leans into an icy, high-tech look with clean shaping and a few translucent touches that sell the theme instantly. The build starts with a sturdy core, then you layer on panels and trims that lock in the final silhouette.
Zane’s side also brings a neat bonus, a detachable “drone-style” module with shooters. It’s not revolutionary, but it adds variety, either as a second threat during play or simply as an extra element to pose on display.
Mr. E’s Oni Bike is the opposite vibe, sharper, nastier, more villain energy. The main function is the kind kids will spam immediately, roll the bike and the front blades move, giving it that “back off” feeling. Simple, yes, but it lands perfectly for a NINJAGO street chase set.
The mask pedestal is small, but it does its job, it creates a clear goal, steal or protect the mask, and also holds the Mr. E transformation component, which adds value without making the set feel messy.

Minifigure review
Zane comes in a solid, well-printed version that fits the resistance look from that season. It’s not a “must-have exclusive,” but it looks good in hand and pairs well with other sets from the same wave.
Mr. E is the obvious standout. Strong villain design, dark and intimidating, with a helmet and visor that makes him instantly recognizable. And then there’s the extra twist, a transformation build that turns him into a four-armed creature, using the Oni Mask of Vengeance. For play, that’s a big win. For collectors, it’s a great villain to pose front and center in a NINJAGO lineup.

Instruction manual
A very welcome detail, two instruction booklets, one per bike. That makes building with someone else much smoother, or just swapping between builds without constant page flipping. The steps are clean and easy to follow, standard attention required when you’re closing panels and aligning slimmer front-end details.

So…

70639 is compact, focused, and well executed, two bikes with real personality, a fun villain function, a nice add-on for Zane, and strong minifigures, with Mr. E stealing the spotlight. It’s not a massive set, but as a character-and-vehicle pack from the Sons of Garmadon era, it holds up really well, especially if you can grab it at a good price.
