About
The set nails visual impact right away, classic NINJAGO architecture with layered rooftops, curves, warm colors, and that festive-diorama look that just works on a shelf. The build uses a modular, multi-level approach, which makes it easy to appreciate the interior, but it also comes with a small downside, some sections can feel a bit looser than ideal when you pick the model up.
What I really like is how LEGO plays with the theme, it works as a temple, but it also feels like a party scene. There are side builds and little details that add personality, without it feeling like “just another temple.” As a display piece, it has that presence that instantly makes people ask, “Where is this from?”

Minifigure review
This is where a big part of the value sits, the set includes 12 minifigures, and 5 are exclusive to this set. The biggest highlight is getting the full lineup of the 10th anniversary golden ninjas in one box, Cole, Jay, Kai, Lloyd, Nya, and Zane, it’s basically a shortcut to completing that collection. Then you have the Christmas, NINJAGO themed characters, like Santa Garmadon, Misako, Wu (in a golden robe), Mezmo and Mezmo Junior, plus a snowman, so it’s a cast that blends collecting and play, with a strong focus on unique parts and characters you don’t see every day.

Instruction manual
A really fitting detail for a “celebration” set, 4002021 The Temple of Celebrations comes with 6 instruction booklets. In practice, that turns the build into a modular experience, where multiple people can build at the same time without fighting over pages or having to dismantle half the temple just to keep going.
Each booklet focuses on a different section of the model, which helps in two ways, first, it keeps the build flowing and less tiring because you feel progress in clear, satisfying chunks, second, it makes the set far more social, it’s ideal to build with family or friends, everyone takes a module, and in the end it all comes together as one complete diorama.
For a set that’s already special and commemorative by nature, this format makes perfect sense, it feels like an event, not just “another build.”

So…

4002021 The Temple of Celebrations was made to feel special, and it succeeds. The build has real presence, the theme is a fresh twist within NINJAGO, and the minifigure lineup, especially the anniversary gold figures and the exclusives, is the main hook. The downside is simple, since it was never sold, it’s usually expensive on the secondary market. That’s where the honest question comes in, are you paying a “rarity premium,” or are you just chasing the building experience? As a collector piece, it’s incredible. As a rational purchase, it depends entirely on the deal you find.
