About
This set works because it’s pure “final fight” energy. The Crystal King has real presence, it’s not just a large figure, it’s a creature with a strong silhouette, and the wings do a lot of work to give it that dramatic villain profile.
The build leans more toward playability than ultra-fine display detail, but it still has satisfying moments, especially in how it blends creature anatomy, armor, and that “crystallized” look the theme was pushing in 2022.
It also nails the play pattern these packs need, one big poseable centerpiece character, plus enough minifigures to create an instant conflict straight out of the box, without needing extra sets to make it feel complete.

Minifigure review
The five minifigures are a strong selection for this storyline, you get Lloyd (marketed by LEGO at the time as a “never-seen-before” version), The Crystal King, Harumi, a Vengestone Guard, and a Vengestone Warrior. For collectors, the obvious highlights are the Harumi + Crystal King combo, they add real story weight, and the exclusive Lloyd helped justify the set even for fans who already had plenty of NINJAGO mechs and dragons on the shelf.

So…

The Crystal King delivers exactly what it promises, a final boss villain with presence, an instant battle setup with five relevant minifigures, and a big build that’s fun to pose, play with, and display. If you want a Crystallized set that truly feels like the climax, this is one of the easiest to recommend.
