About
The board itself is simple and functional, studs to place your “pieces” and that’s it, no extra fuss. And honestly, that’s fine, because the board was never the main event here, the contents were.
LEGO adds a couple of small touches so it doesn’t feel too dry, like a micro rover that instantly brings the scene to life, plus a few little details that make it feel more like a tiny Space diorama than just a game. On display, it works surprisingly well, a neat, compact square with astronauts lined up, perfect for a desk and easy to photograph. Basically, it’s a set made for two things, play for 2 minutes, then display for 2 years.

Minifigure review
This is where the gold is. You get 5 white astronauts and 5 orange astronauts, all with the classic Space logo and full retro vibes. For collectors, it’s essentially an army-building pack for filling MOCs and dioramas.
The one small downside is that it’s not the most “complete” Classic Space treatment, some accessories are kept pretty simple (and some fans will miss classic details like airtanks). Still, the quantity and the color combo make the set worth it for the minifigs alone.

So…

5008897 Tic Tac Toe is “fine” as a game, but as Classic Space content, it’s excellent. If you got it through Insiders, it’s a reward with way more impact than most. If you’re looking at the secondary market, then it’s the usual conversation, you’re paying for rarity and minifigs, not for the board.
